The wife and I just took our cranky baby for a ride in the Mustang. Minutes in, she's out cold. We go up the highway some, and then back down - that rumble, the ride... she's dreaming. Get home, she's still out like a light and straight down for the night.
She's got my DNA, that's for true.

The last time I had to take one of my kids for a drive, it was my son and he sang to me and blabbered away for an hour before he would sleep. That was a long, long drive...

Surely you'd stay up for a ride in a Mustang though? lol, when I was a baby I apparently cried in the car, and slept if we went off-road in our Blazer.

i don't like this idea. my parents did this to me, and if i'm in a car & not driving, i really, really want to take a nap.

Did you read her "Goodnight Hoon" before bedtime too?

When my twin boys were babies, getting them both to sleep at the same time was my number one goal of the day (I'm a stay home dad). They had just finished the new tollway near our house, and it was free for the first few months. So I would load them up and hit the road. It worked every time. The challenge was getting them home and into their cribs without waking them, but I got pretty good at it. Then it was cigar time.

They all grown up now?

Nope. But so far I've only ever needed to take them for 1 drive, each.

This needs to be a real thing.

They are now 8 (2nd grade), and I have an older boy who is 11 (going on 15, but sometimes going on 8).
Back in 2006. I'm a lot grayer now.
